Welcome back to another exciting year at CUC Maranoa! Whether you’re returning to your studies or stepping into higher education for the first time, we’re here to support you on your journey. Starting or continuing study can feel like a big step, but remember—you are not alone. Our team, resources, and study community are here to help you stay on track and achieve your goals.

This year is already shaping up to be a big one! We are thrilled to announce that we have officially supported over 700 students since opening our doors just four years ago. This is an incredible milestone for our centre and a testament to the drive and determination of students in our region. Every one of you contributes to making CUC Maranoa a vibrant hub of learning, and we couldn’t be prouder of this achievement.

We’re also gearing up for our Level Up Your Future – Career Discovery Expo. This hands-on, industry-connected event helps high school students explore exciting career pathways through guest speakers and interactive activities. It’s an exciting opportunity for students to discover the world of work - and we’d love your help! If you’re interested in being a paid student ambassador at the event, let us know.

As the semester kicks off, we encourage you to consider over the coming weeks, how study fits into your lifestyle. Don’t be afraid to make adjustments so you get the best out of your study without turning into a burnt-out zombie! Census date is coming up soon, so take a moment to check in on your workload and make any changes if needed. Our LSAs are a great resource if you’d like to talk through your options and get support before census date.

Speaking of LSAs – their sessions are booking out fast! To ensure you get the support you need, be sure to book in with Kat and Glenys early. These sessions can make a huge difference in your study success. Don’t feel alone in your study, book a session and get access to friendly face-to-face supports here at CUC Maranoa.

Whether you’re aiming to pass your first subject, push through your final year, or simply find a quiet place to focus – CUC Maranoa is your place to thrive.

"I Dream of Being..." Book Launch a Huge Success!

The Roma Library was buzzing with excitement on Wednesday, 22 January, as the community came together to celebrate the launch of “I Dream of Being…”, a children’s book created by local students across the Maranoa region. The event was a heartwarming showcase of young talent, creativity, and big dreams, with families, teachers, and community members gathering to support and inspire the next generation.

The book, developed by CUC Maranoa, features the illustrated dreams of students from Years 3–6, who responded to the question, “I dream of being…”. With 109 entries from seven schools, the project highlighted the diverse ambitions of our region’s young people—from future pilots and veterinarians to artists, athletes, and scientists.

The launch event was a fantastic celebration, with children and families enjoying fun activities, a visit from local professionals, and a sausage sizzle. Copies of the book were distributed to all Maranoa libraries and schools, ensuring the entire community can share in the dreams of its young people.

This project was made possible through the support of the Maranoa Regional Council Community Grant, which funded the printing of the books. By making these dreams visible and accessible, “I Dream of Being…” aims to spark conversations about career pathways and inspire students to keep dreaming big.

CUC Maranoa extends a huge thank you to all students, families, schools, and community members who contributed to and supported this project. Your involvement helps ensure that young people in our region see their aspirations as achievable.

If you haven’t had a chance to read “I Dream of Being…”, copies are available at local libraries—be sure to check it out and celebrate the bright futures our young people are imagining!

If anyone is interested in a copy of the book please contact us at degrees@cucmaranoa.edu.au and we will try to send out a copy, numbers permitting.
