2025 Level Up Careers Expo – Roma, QLD

The 2025 Level Up Careers Expo, hosted by CUC Maranoa, was a hands-on career discovery event held in Roma, Queensland. Designed especially for Year 8 and 9 students from St John’s School and Roma State College, the expo featured a series of interactive activity stations run by local universities, TAFE, and regional businesses. Students engaged directly with professionals, explored career paths they may not have encountered before, and learned about future opportunities in fields ranging from trades to health, tech, and the arts. The event aimed to spark curiosity, build aspiration, and help students connect their strengths and interests with real-world career options—all within a fun, immersive setting.

Check out these activities that the students got to explore

Project Manta is Australia's first manta ray research program that is based at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC), dedicated to studying the biology, ecology, and conservation of manta rays along the Australian coastline. It brings together marine biologists, citizen scientists, and conservationists to track manta ray populations, understand their behaviour, and protect them from threats like habitat destruction and climate change.

The Mantas Matter workshop introduces students to manta rays, their unique features, and their ecological significance while exploring careers in marine biology and animal ecology. Through interactive activities, students will engage in real-world ecological research concepts and understand the role of scientists in conservation efforts.
